In addition to private clarinet instruction, Dr. Rhoades is excited to assist students through a wide variety of educational opportunities, including sectionals, masterclasses, clarinet choir, chamber music, and adjudication.
Sectionals, Masterclasses & Clarinet choir
Committed to supporting area band and orchestra directors, Dr. Rhoades is available for clarinet sectionals, as well as masterclasses and clarinet choir rehearsals.
Sectionals & Clarinet Choir
Sectionals and clarinet choir rehearsals may focus on things such as intonation, articulation, and musicality in works that are being prepared by the band, orchestra, or clarinet choir for upcoming performances.
Masterclasses
Masterclasses are a great way to work with clarinet sections on specific topics related to clarinet playing such as breathing and breath support, embouchure, tuning and intonation, technique, and phrasing, or to help students prepare for auditions by performing for others. Chamber Music
The study of chamber music provides students with unique opportunities that differ from private lessons and band or orchestra settings. Since most chamber music has only one person per part, some of the unique opportunities include teamwork and musical decision making, as well as an emphasis on individual responsibility. Chamber music may include duets, trios, quartets, quintets, and clarinet choir. Adjudication
Adjudication is another method of educating students through providing constructive comments at solo and ensemble contests. Other forms of adjudication take place through placement auditions for all-state bands and orchestra, honors band auditions, and district band auditions. Dr. Rhoades is available to serve as an adjudicator for clarinet, as well as woodwind chamber ensembles.
